The course will be taught by Rev. Jared Melius, Pastor of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church. Pastor Melius graduated from the University of Washington in 2000 with a degree in Comparative Religion and received a Master’s degree from Concordia Theological Seminary in 2005. He has been the pastor at Mt. Zion since 2006.

+ What is the adult instruction class? +

The Adult Instruction Class (AIC) is a 14-week course on the basic teachings of Christianity, taught by Pastor Jared Melius. The environment is safe and non-threatening. Questions and interactions are encouraged, but not required. Whether you have questions about religious matters or not, most everyone who has completed the course reports that they have learned a lot, and many tell us their lives have been changed. Either way, Pastor Melius promises an enjoyable and beneficial time. There is no obligation to join Mt. Zion at any time during or after the course.

+ Who is this class for? +

AIC is for anyone who wants to learn about Christianity or has questions about the teachings of the Bible. Therefore, it is for any member of Mt. Zion who wants to review their faith, and for any non-member who is curious about the Lutheran faith or who is considering the possibility of making Mt. Zion their church home.

+ What is the format? +

Dress is casual. Each week, we will begin with a brief prayer and then we will work through a lesson in the booklet. You will never be required to read out loud, pray, or answer questions. There will be a short break halfway through the class, and you will always be dismissed on time. Class concludes with the Lord’s Prayer, which is voluntary.
